As part of the build-up to the Forward Thinking Roadshow in Bristol we have put together a series of 5 articles by the experts who will be attending the show. 25million + people use Facebook in the UK, that's 45% of the population, the average time spent on Facebook per month is just over 6hrs. Another interesting stat too before people think that social media is just for the ‘young-uns'! A whopping 56.5% of Facebook users are over 25.*
Doing the basics well such as developing a social media strategy relevant to your target audience, updating your blog regularly, tweeting interesting subjects (not just properties) such as your blog titles and engaging with your customer base through Facebook are fundamentals to modern estate agent marketing. It won't be for everyone, but with the cost of advertising properties on portals/print media seeming
to be the largest drain on marketing budgets for an estate agent, it might be worth trying using social media in conjunction, as we can all do with more leads in the current market place!
I've had conversations with people from the property industry and the consensus seems to be that whilst people are aware of social media they are not sure how to utilise it in a commercial way. If we take advertising in print media as an example the reality is that more people access Facebook every day than buy a newspaper and the ROI of most Facebook add campaigns is higher because you only pay for the people who interact with your advert as opposed to the ‘shotgun' approach of conventional media.
